Micheal "Randy" Moffett, who was selected late last month to head the University of Louisiana System, will be the graduation speaker at Grambling State.
Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. July 25 in the GSU Assembly Center.
"I am extremely honored and pledge to do everything I can to be successful and help the system be successful," Moffett said when he was named ULS president.
A Jonesboro native, Moffett is the seventh president of Louisiana's largest public university system.
He replaced former ULS President Sally Clausen, who became the Commissioner of Higher Education with the Louisiana Board of Regents on July 1.
After Dr. Moffett's selection, ULS Board Chair Elsie Burkhalter lauded the new president for his previous service at a system school.
"Dr. Moffett has risen up through the academic ranks and that has afforded him a wonderful knowledge of university administration from several different levels. Southeastern Louisiana University has flourished during his seven years as President," she said.
Moffett earned an Ed.D. in educational administration from Louisiana State University, a master of education in student personnel services from Northwestern State University, and a bachelor of arts in social studies education from Louisiana Tech University.
"Students and parents in this state have invested in our colleges and universities, and we have an obligation to deliver on that investment by producing more college graduates, Dr. Moffett said.
The July 25 commencement will mark the last time a graduation ceremony will be held in the summer. Graduates from Summer I and Summer II sessions will receive their degrees.
