Grambling State University MSW graduate receives honor
A Grambling State graduate was recently honored as the 2008 Social Worker of the Year.
Alisa Lear was chosen for the honor by the Louisiana Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers earlir this year.
Lear, who received her master of social work degree from Grambling in fall 1991, has been an active volunteer for a number of agencies, including the Red Cross, March of Dimes, Go Care, and a number of hospitals and home health service agencies.
She currently works in private practice, including grant writing and consulting services she offers.

Foreign Language Department releases upcoming developments
The Foreign Languages Department is sponsoring another Study Abroad Program this coming June 2009; if you are interested in participating, contact Dr. Gonzalez at 318-274-2368 or Brenda Lewis at 318-274-2347.
Credit by Examination, students remember that you can get credit for French 101 and 102 as well as Spanish 101 and 102 by simply taking the Credit by Examination Exam. It is FREE and it will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Woodson Hall Room 225.
Do you know that Arabic, French, German, Latin and Spanish is an available selection in foreign languages? Register and have fun learning a new language at the same time that you receive college credit hours.

University of New Orleans to host grant workshop
The Grant Institute's Grants 101: Professional Grant Proposal Writing Workshop will be held at the University of New Orleans - Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center from Aug. 11-13.
The course, to be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is an intensive and detailed introduction to the process, structure and skill of professional proposal writing.
Grants 101 consists of three courses that will be completed during the three-day workshop: fundamentals of program planning, professional grant writing and grant research.
The $597 tuition includes all materials and certificates. All participants will receive certification in professional grant writing from the Institute.
