Christ Temple to hold program of praising Sunday
Christ Temple Baptist Church, located on 7349 Hwy 80 Ruston,will sponsor The Men and Women Praising God program Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m.
The quest pastor/teacher and church will be the Rev. Salvin Albritton Jr. and the New Hope Baptist Church family of Ruston.
The scripture for the program will come from I Corinthians 15:57, "But thanks be to God! He gives the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
The program colors are Black and White and the event is coordinated by the Pastor's Helpers. Dwayne Thompson, Pastor/Teacher, of Christ Temple along with the membership extends an invitation to the the public.
Mighty Clouds of Melody to celebrate in song
The Mighty Clouds of Melody of Athens will celebrates an anniversary Sunday, Aug. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Christian School.
A number of guest groups will participate in the celebration. The singing groups will include the Jubilettes of Downsville; Gospelaires, Monroe; New Born Gospel Singers, Monroe; Spiritual Wonders, El Dorado, Ark.; Minden Soul Stirrers, Minden and many other groups.
Monroe area to host Louisiana Baptist State Convention
The Louisiana Baptist State Convention and Congress of Christian education will meet in Monroe July 20-25. The meeting will be the 135th annual session and the 24th annual congress.
The convention will kick off with an annual musical Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Monroe Civic Center Theater. Registration will take place Monday, July 21 at beginning at 7 a.m. at Carroll High School on Renwick St. The Congress arm of the convention will hold general assembly at 8:30 a.m. in the school auditorium followed by class sessions. All children and youth in the convention will report to Carroll Junior High School at 8 a.m.
Class sessions or the Convention in Study will continue on Tuesday until Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30. The Congress Dean's message will be given on July 22 in school auditorium at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 the Congress Director will delivery his message at 10:45 a.m. in the auditorium and Thursday the President of the Convention, Rev. Harry Blake, will give his message at 10:45 a.m. in the auditorium.
A Children's Hour and Youth Rally will take place on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the youth at 7:15 p.m. The convention commencement will be held at Mount Olivet Baptist Church Friday, July 25 at 8:30 a.m. A business meeting will rap up the 135th session.
