Grambling Nurses Association seeks help from volunteers

The Grambling State University Student Nurses' Association is seeking help from interested volunteers during the Susan G. Coleman - Race for the Cure Walk Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Forsyth Park at 8 a.m. in Monroe.

Orchesis Dance Company sends out call to all alumni

The Orchesis Dance Compoany is preparing for the Grambling State University homecoming activities. They are inviting former members to participate in the alumni field show with the World Famed Tiger Marching Band.

GSU Baptist Collegiate Ministry to hold service on Tuesdays

The Grambling State University Baptist Collegiate Ministry extends an invitation to all college-aged individuals to the Tuesday night worship service held at Lewis Temple C.M.E. Church at 8 p.m.

The organization will hold "Prayer on the Yard" on Thursdays at noon. There are ministries such as mime, dance, drama, music, freshmen, sports, women's and men's ministries to get involved with.

Campus ministry schedules Epiphany, Ministry Week

The United Campus Ministry has released a number of activities for the semester. The organization will hold Epiphany Weekend during Sept. 19, 20, 21. Participation in three training sessions are needed with a security check.

The Campus Ministry Week has been set during Oct. 12-19. The Recognition Gala will be held Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Trinity Center in Ruston.

Dean seeks departmental input for college newsletter

Dr. Connie Walton, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is encouraging all units to submit stories for the newsletter by Monday, Sept. 22.

The articles must be submitted in a word file and a picture included in a separate file to waltoncr@gram.edu.




GSU Art Department releases first exhibition showcase

The Grambling State University Department of Art will host an exhibition of recent works by two outstanding artists until Oct. 2. The exhibit will take place in the Art Gallery in Dunbar Hall.

A closing reception for the artist will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Charles. E. Lovelace and Walter Coatney are from Shreveport. Lovelace is a Louisiana artist and retired art teacher from the Caddo Parish School System.

Coatney, a resident of Shreveport for 38 years, attended Grambling State University, Southern University at Shreveport and worked in the Caddo Parish schools. His artistic creations reference his interests in nature, antique collecting, and football.
